This was a crucial day in our journey to create our new flagship program. We've been so focused on developing the content that we continuously postponed the crucial step of testing. It's a bit ironic, given that we always emphasize the importance of testing to our clients.

Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA

Our flagship-day is shaping up to be a powerful tool for onboarding and/or assessment. I'm excited about the concept of a team challenge that helps professionals identify their strengths and weaknesses in the context of our volatile, uncertain and complex 21st century. But the question of how to test effectively has sparked quite a debate among our team.

Validation or Discovery testing?

We grappled with various testing approaches - from creating a simple flyer to gauge interest, to testing a single challenge, or even an entire module. It was refreshing to realize that our goal at this stage is discovery rather than validation. We're not trying to prove our idea right; we're trying to learn and improve.

The Customer journey: 5xE

The discussion made me realize how many aspects of our program there are to learn from. It's both exciting and a little overwhelming. But then we had a breakthrough - we decided to shift our perspective from our own viewpoint to that of the user. This change in focus led us to map out the customer journey using the five E's: Entice, Enter, Engage, Exit, and Extend.

Standing in front of that whiteboard, plotting out each stage of the journey, was an eye-opening experience. We've been so engrossed in the product itself that we'd neglected to view it holistically as a service! Visualizing the entire journey from the initial trigger of interest to how we engage, what do the take away, to what might prompt a repeat visit. This was incredibly enlightening.

Finding the Power moment

I'm amazed at how helpful this exercise was. It's given us a clearer direction for our testing and helped us identify key moments in the user experience that we need to focus on.

This experience has reminded me of the importance of stepping back and looking at the broader picture. It's so easy to get caught up in the details and lose sight of the overall user experience.
